Exhibition: Traces and Memories, Family Photographs of Five Generations of the Šokac Family from Baranya

The exhibition Traces and Memories presents a selection of family photographs of the Šokac family from the village of Gajić in Baranya. The photographs were taken in the period from the beginning to the seventies of the 20th century showing moments in life of five generations shaping their history. At the same time they document a great change in traditional life emerging within new cultural and social circumstances, in particular the changes in clothing habits i.e. gradual giving up of traditional clothes. By taking a closer look at the form of the photographs and their contents the history of photography emerges starting from photo tents of professional travelling photographs over village amateur photographers to the seventies of the last century when photographs were taken by family members themselves.
